Our Mindset and Approach

ANet offers more than products and services. We’re an expert partner to educational leaders. Our collaborations tap into each partner’s unique educational environment and community.

If you want to impact achievement and equity in your school, district, or CMO, an ANet partnership can tailor a strategic integration of assessments, coaching, and tools that lead to breakthrough results for your students. We help leaders build a shared educational practice that is grounded in equity and creates access to an empowering education and the opportunities that education provides.

Assessments have historically deepened inequity. They still do.

“Rich kids are taught. Poor kids are tested.” (Cornel West)

Under institutional systems, testing hasn’t succeeded in assessing where students are academically. Instead, it’s often used as a culturally biased tool for predetermining kids’ futures. We need to use data from assessments to learn what kids need and how we can help them, instead of deficit-framing them.

Download our resource Teaching Comes First to ensure your assessments are flexible, formative, and reflective.

At the center of our vision is the student.

Institutions need to adapt and learn from kids.

It’s not just about what is taught and how it’s taught. It’s about who. All children should have access to an empowering education and the opportunities it provides. To provide it, we have to start by changing our own perceptions of accountability, performance, and representation. Kids have always adapted to the systems around them. If we want to give students an equitable education, the system needs to adapt to kids.

Our work is multi-layered, integrated, and cohesive.

By working strategically across systems, we help our partners seed equity throughout.

We understand the overarching, interconnected conditions and structures that drive instructional equity at each level. ANet’s combination of products and services gives us a unique ability to reach into and work through multiple layers of an education system to enact instructional change grounded in equity.
